All the pictures of U. evona I have seen show fewer submarginal spots on the forewing. http://butterfliesofamerica.com/urbanus_evona_specimens.htm http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7289506
@ Keith, urbanus proteus was my first thought also, but I compared it with this example: http://www.naba.org/chapters/nabast/ltskip.html I thought the pattern of wing spots, length of the 'tails' (even with the obvious damage), and color were more like Urbanus evona.
Great Shot...!!! I found a similar skipper last week, but yours have a more vivid color !!! http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7289506
A gorgeous specimen, but Urbanus proteus seems much more likely.
