Field Notes

Description:

The whale shark is found in tropical and warm temperate seas worldwide. It is considered the largest fish in the world. Despite the name, it is a shark not a whale. The largest individual that was accurately measured was 40 feet 7 inches long. There is a report in 1925 of a 60-foot whale shark, but it is undocumented.
This shark is not a threat to people because it feeds only on plankton, small fish and squid, which it filters from the water through its gills.

I think that would work fine for pretty much everything there & will give you good depth of field.
Very cool. I would probably bring my standard 35-50mm then.
Thanks Liam! It's a great aquarium isn't it? I took this photo with my Lumix FZ18 bridge camera (I've since upgraded to the FZ40!) which has a 18x zoom but I was seated only about 10 feet from the front of the glass so I don't think I usedf telephoto at all for this shot.
Great photos. I went here once. What lens did you use here? Standard or telephoto?
