An unknown type of fungi, most likely "Berkeley's Polypore." Q. What did the boy mushroom say to the girl mushroom? A. I'm a fungi!

Habitat:

Spotted in the yard of a suburban house.

Oh yes - the rim on those photos looks more like it. Great to have an ID!
Thanks to "p.young713" for her helpful ID suggestion, and thanks to "AshleyBradford" for her comment! BTW Ashley, "Berkeley's Polypore" is edible although it doesn't look very appetizing and several anecdotal accounts on the Internet confirm that in this case, looks *aren't* deceiving!
I don't know for sure, but it sure does look like Chicken of the Woods: http://www.mushroomexpert.com/laetiporus_sulphureus.html Wish I knew mushrooms better - I'd love to know for a fact that that is an edible mushroom!
