Thanks for the info, craigwilliams, I agree with u that it is not an oriental poppy; after further research, thinking it may be a scarlet flax
This is what Papaver orientale looks like: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papaver_orientale
This does have the look of a Poppy but it isn't Papaver orientale and I don't think it's a Papaver either as the species in this genus have many stamens and this only has five. Maybe in the Poppy family (Papaveraceae) but I'm afraid I don't recognise it.
Thanks for the ID SavannahMarie. I had a feeling it was a type of poppy.
