Asrugan, I'm a Bee specialist, I have been working with native bees for more than 15 years. When a Bumblebee colony is starting, the first workers can be even smaller than a Honeybee. On the other hand, Honeybees are never so hairy, nor has that color patern or wing venation.
Though in looking more, you maybe right, it maybe a different sort of bumblebee from our more common black/yellow juggernauts of bees we get around here. I'll give it a day or so to mull it over.
I'm afraid not. not only is this bee smaller than a bumblebee it's colors run more black/gold than the usual black/yellow. We do get plenty of bumblebees out here, but this one is not, it's some sort of honey type bee.
