Actually, comparing the "faces" in figure4 of the link in my other comment to your photo #4, I'm more confident it is X. micans
Note : it may be the very similar Xylocopa virginica a male Eastern Carpenter Bee. I'm going with southern because you mentioned a noticeable blue abdomen. Bugguide mentions that southerns have a more purplish iridescent abdomen.
