I found this growing on a rotting log. It was about three cubic inches in size. It reminded me of coral. As a bonus there is a slug hanging out on it.

Thanks for the info !!! It's been raining here for the last couple of days so things are sprouting up all over. I definitely will go back to check on it.
I just posted a spotting of the pink form of this fungus: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/7343225. It was interesting to watch how it changed over time.
I second the Hericium ID. I only came across one of these for the first time last year. Keep an eye on it over the next few days, the teeth will grow longer and it might change color slightly.
I was quite surprised when I came across this yesterday. I hadn't seen this kind before. This little patch was the only kind I saw in the forest.
