Looks like you're right with the second suggestion, Alex. The cracked cap of the adult state is missing, but since this is a juvenile specimen, it should match your suggest. Thank you for your dedication.
when it was red : xerocomus rubelus (X - versicolor/Buletus rubellus) -- when brown : xerocomus chrysenteron (boletus chrysenteron). both have those red stem. take a look !!
it was pretty much exact like on the photo - a dusty brown
was the cap red or more brown ???
