Field Notes
Description:
Beautifully colored bird with a distinctive black mask bordered by white bars, and a wispy crest. The bird gets its name from the waxy, red tips on the inner wing. The tail ends with a yellow stripe.
Habitat:
Lives where trees and shrubs have ripe fruits such as berries.
Notes:
Spends a lot of time in flocks with other waxwings.
