Field Notes

Description:

This spotless, stripe-less, blood-red ladybug is harder to photograph than its spotted / striped neighbors (Australian lady beetles). It is very active and camera shy. The shell is so very shiny that sun angle can be very important. This is the 4th type of ladybug to visit the garden this year. I've never noticed so many before!

Habitat:

Spotted in the tropical south, FL gulf coast.

Do a search on Exochomus childreni. They are so small and cute. Here's a link to one. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6602074
