Description:
There seems to be some debate as to whether the Harlan's Hawk is a subspecies of the Red-tailed Hawk or a separate species. I am choosing to call it a separate species as indicated in the scientific name. This hawk has very dark top wing and back feathers with some white spots, and dark and light feathers under the wings. Its tail is almost white.
Habitat:
Much the same as the Red-tailed Hawk, which can survive almost anywhere in North America in a wide range of habitats. Prefers areas with tall perch sites
