Description:
This Watersnake is often confused with a cottonmouth, but the Northern water snake is not venomous. These snakes are active day and night in search of food, such as small fish, frogs, worms, crayfish, and even small birds and mammals. These snakes can grow up to 4 feet in length.
Habitat:
The Northern Watersnake resides near lakes, ponds, streams, and rivers. The geographic distribution of the Northern Water snake is through out central and eastern North America.
Notes:
I spotted this Watersnake at Chickahominy riverfront park around 1:30pm. Pamela Juarez
