Description:

Thrips. Very small insects that live on flowers. The are long and thin. Probably 1-2mm long and <1mm wide.

Habitat:

Flowers.

Of course! During the spring mallards like to show up on the lawns. Yeah, I imagine, this is the first time I've been able to resolve them, thanks to the new macro lens.
Thrips often (maybe always?) must be slide-mounted to ID to family and beyond.
Can't help you there but can I request a duck spotting? You are in Eugene :)
