Field Notes

Description:

Mystery little mushrooms growing in woodchips. Brick red caps more when young, kind of a brown when older, pale gills, slightly slimy cap, hollow stem. Clusters, base is very thready with white mycelium. Wasn't able to produce spore print.

Habitat:

Woodchips in planted area, Brooklyn Botanic Garden near south entrance.

Notes:

The young ones have a brick red cap. Small clusters. I think this may be the same as the next photo. Small and delicate.
