Description:

A strange brown Skipper with elongated front wings. I could not coax it to open it's wings for me even though it was very friendly and liked to be handled. Family Hesperiidae.

Habitat:

Open field, semi-urban area, outskirts of San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Thanks Kel, lucky you, just entering spring and summer! Can't wait to see all that you find!
In the summer of 2012, there were many different species of these butterflies, here. I did not know where to aim my camera. But they disappeared. There should be more butterflies in the spring, by the logic of flowers that open in that season, but I do not see many butterflies lately.
