Description:

The Portuguese name of this caterpillar (puppy dog) refers to its resemblance to Pekingese dogs. In english they are known as puss caterpillars. It is the larval stage of a flannel moth, belonging to the family Megalopygidae. These larvae are known for their venomous spines that can cause a painful sting and inflammation lasting for several days.

Habitat:

A rosebush in the yard of a house, in the outskirts of a small town.
