Field Notes

Description:

Large brown male praying mantis with bright green stripes down the sides of its forewings. Green eyes.

Habitat:

Found on an ornamental bunchgrass at the Penn State Arboretum.

Notes:

I also found a larger(!) gravid female with the same markings hunting on butterfly bush. Did not get a photo of her.
