I wonder if the brightness of the ring varies among populations - ours have little to no ring, which was typical in several of the photos I looked at before making the comment
@ karen ,eye ring is very typical of Wren tits. That is how i differentiated my spotting of Bushtit from Wren tit.
I have never seen a wrentit away from cover before, also am not entirely sure of the bright white eye ring. Not that I have an alternate id, just an observation. There are many pairs near my house
