Field Notes

Description:

Bumble Bee. Black with gold bands Black diamond between wings. The Bee is .5 inches long.

Habitat:

broad urban parks in the eastern U.S. But this one lives under my steps with about 4 other Bumble Bees. Sometimes this one spends the night at the front door, it tries to squeeze between the door and the insulation, it appears dead in the morning but once it wakes up it flies off the porch. In this picture it is asleep. We are careful not to disturb it while it is sleeping.
