Acraea spp.
0.63, 30.41
Field Notes
Description:
POSSIBLY a caterpillar of the Elegant Acraea (Acraea egina). Despite some notable differences, which may be related to age, the rather distinctive larval pattern is a very good match, while that species is reported for Kibale NP.
Habitat:
montane forest in the northern part of Kibale Forest National Park
Notes:
Kibale National Park (pronounced Chibale) is a national park in South Uganda protecting moist evergreen rain forest. It is 766 km² in size and is located between 1,100–1,600 meters in elevation.. The northern part of the park has the highest elevation. Kibale is one of the last remaining expanses to contain both lowland and montane forests. In East Africa, it sustains the last significant expanse of pre-montane forest.
