Description:

The Ringed Teal’s Latin name (callonetta lecophrysus) means beautiful duck. The Ringed Teal has green feathers and distinguishable white wings. The male Ringed Teal has a pink breast and a chestnut brown back. The female has a white face and an olive-brown back. Unusual for the duck family, Ringed Teals enjoy perching. Their long toes and strong claws make it easy for the birds to perch on tree branches.

Habitat:

Tropical and swampy forests, wooded lowlands
