Field Notes

Description:

This little shroom was next to a small forest path. It was completely white, even the top (which I failed to photograph...)

Habitat:

It was surrounded by moss and everything was a little wet with dew.

Notes:

I have absolutely no idea what species of mushroom this is, any ideas would be much appreciated! :)

deadly destroying angel do not eat!
Great shot! Having little knowledge of mushrooms, my first thought is Destroying Angel; potent stuff. The only thing throwing me off is how small it appears, so I hope it's in a juvenile state. Refer to this image: http://botit.botany.wisc.edu/toms_fungi/images/ambi1.jpg The middle fungus appears to match your find, and since you found it in New York, it could be Amanita bisporigera. Again, these are all suggestions, so do some of your own research and I hope someone more experienced might come along to help! Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amanita_bisporigera
