I will defiantly go there sometime next year. My friends and I are trying to plan a visit up North and will be making stops along the way.
Regarding the monkeys, they are getting harder and harder to spot near the coast. As costa rica develops the money hungry people are killing the jungle by the hundreds of acres. Sleepy oceanside villages are being replaced by High rise hotels like Hilton and Marriott and polluted city blocks and large agriculture and multinational companies...gone are the days of the gravel roads and horseback travel along the beaches...you must have had seen that in your time here....the Costa rica people will not know what hit them, in a few more years this place will be like any other westernize place if people do not wake up.
Okay I am rambling some more. I need to get outside and enjoy the weather before it starts raining. Maybe I will see a monkey today, if I am really lucky. Thanks for the referral. I will keep you in mind when I go.
Hi AlaiLanda, No I haven't travel much in Costa Rica. My casita is in the Southern area close to Baru. I work about 70 hours per week, but it doesn't stop me from exploring my world. The jungle creatures come right up to my house and even find their way in my underwear drawer (eg. gecko nested in there and laid several eggs) lol. I look out from my desk and see some of the most amazing things...every single day. Most do not make it to this site nor even photographed, because it happens in a flash most the time; like yesterday while I was chatting with my landlord about rent I saw, climbing up a near by tree, a 7 foot long, green and black stripped, lizard or Iguana..not sure...but it was huge! I was about 80 feet away and I could easily guage it was longer than me so 7 feet is probably right... and it zipped up the tree as if it was a 2" gecko. Hopefully next year, i will get to travel North and inland too as this place is disappearing fast with all the expats coming and craving out the jungle. It kills me when I see them leveling the jungle so they can put in a lawn. KILLS ME! So i am going to try and savor as much natural beauty before its gone.
I noticed your other post regarding Bali...which do you like better...Bali or Costa Rica?
Awwwwwwwwww, I want one. I love dogs. Wouldn't know what I would do without my companion Sadie (she is pictured in my photos). She is quite the little adventurer and we enjoy spending time trailblazing Costa Rica's beautiful jungle. Hopefully next year I can take her to the East Coast USA. She would love the snow I think. Anyways, these are little cuties. Thanks for the post.
