Description:
Also known as either Fireweed or Pilewort. The plant is five- to six feet tall, featuring unusual white flowers that remind me of dandelion flowers gone to seed. Editor's Note: I shot the photos using an iPhone 3GS camera that does not perform very well in low light. For example, notice how the white flowers are "blown out" (color saturated) in the photo.
Habitat:
The plant was growing in a clearing of a deciduous forest, between two forks of an intermittent stream running through the "Wildlife Sanctuary," one of seven small parks owned and maintained by the Community Association of Hollin Hills, Fairfax County, Virginia USA.
