Description:
A colloquial name for the order is "praying mantises", because of the typical "prayer-like" stance, although the term is often misspelled as "preying mantis" since mantises are predatory.
Habitat:
Praying mantis habitat is widely distributed throughout the tropical, sub tropical and warm temperate regions of the worlds. Many species of praying mantis are found in the North and South America, South Africa, Europe, the Southern parts of Asia and some parts of Australia.
The praying mantis habitat influences their color. This is very useful in camouflaging themselves from the view of other insects. This is also useful in hiding themselves from their enemies like the owl, frogs, chameleons, bats, monkeys, etc.
