Isabella’s Longwing

Eueides isabella eva is correct. I have needed months to separate Ismenius from Isabelle, until I got the point. But it is very easy if the shot is OK. Look at the white spots at the margin of the hindwing: Ismenius has the spots directly AT the margin (as it is normal for Heliconius), whereas Isabella has the spots "IN" the margin. In addition the big black stripe on the hindwing is open in Isabella and closed in Ismenius. The criterias Sarah pointed out are also very helpful.

Ismael, you are so right that the distinction can be difficult. It is a step-by-step process for me each time when checking between these two. The form of the yellow striping at the end of the upper wing and the black striping on the under part of the back wing are especially helpful.
