Field Notes

Description:

This is the most omnivorous monkey in Central America, I have seen them eating fruits insects, caterpillars, small mammals (bats and squirrels) reptile (lizards, small snakes and iguanas) fish ans moluscus. but this is the first time I see them enjoying the water like this one, not only looking for seeds of a palm tree but refreshing itself in a extremely hot day in the rain forest of Tortuguero National park , north caribbean of Costa Rica. This monkey has about one meter long and weight about 3 kilograms, they live in troops of about 20 individuals but they split in small groups to cover their territory.

Habitat:

Rainforest, mangroves, cloud forest, Dry forest.
