Field Notes

Description:

Dragonflies in a nearby park. I know very little about this sort of insect, and highly value any help with identification!

Habitat:

Found at a local park here in Glendale, Arizona.

Notes:

Hard to take a decent close-up picture when there are bees hovering about near your ears!

Species ID Suggestions

Eastern Amberwing

Perithemis tenera

Thank you textless; I'll be sure to pass on your compliment next time I see them. :)
Good series, and a lovely dragonfly!
Because you can see the wings and they blend with the flowers!
@MickGrant: That suggestion looks so very close to matching the one I found, but the dragonfly's main color in this spotting is a yellow-orange, while the one you suggested has a profound dark brown color. Could this be because the one in my pictures is young? Thanks! @alicelongmartin: Thank you! Why did the second one catch your eye? :)
