Field Notes

Description:

Invasive vine weed with small white flowers that bloom in February.

Habitat:

Strangling raspberry bush that's taking over some other plant. This is not native and the California Invasive Plant Council (Cal-IPC) lists plants that cause serious problems in native ecosystems. In the 2006 list, Cal-IPC classifies the statewide impact of Asparagus asparagoides as moderate -- ALERT (plant profile).

Notes:

The first image was taken on Feb 17, 2012 with a different camera and time of day. This is sometimes called Smilax although it is not that genus.
