Field Notes

Description:

A BIG Owl! common all over the North America. Eats whatever it wants! raccoons, Great Blue Heron's squirrels, Cats !! other owls. Blends in very well.

Habitat:

Can be found most anywhere from City scapes to scrubby backwoods. This Owl was found along the Clark's Fork River at the Convergence of the Yellowstone River...at a new little wildlife reserve called Sundance Lodge Recreation ~ it has an Indian name that i missplaced :(

Notes:

i had passed by it on this new trail giving access to the Clark's Fork R. when i heard a Woodpecker probably a Downey but possibly a Hairy...as i focused in on the woodpecker the action no doubt startled the GHO and it took off about 20 yards ~ giving me a some nice poses as it must have found the interaction of model and photographer mildly amusing. Pretty exciting really.
