Field Notes

Description:

I found this Variegated Fritillary making short flights over a large lawn area. It wouldn't let me get very close, but would fly a short distance and then open its wings to warm, or dry, as it has been very rainy here this week.

Habitat:

Found in open lawn area

Notes:

Observed on grounds of Lantern Court, The Holden Arboretum, Lake County, Kirtland Twp., Kirtland, OH 44094
