Description:

I wasn't sure what this bird was while taking these pictures other than not a snowy egret. I thought that it might be a morph of some kind. Silly me, it is just a youngster. The plants are floating on the surface of the water allowing the heron a great vantage point for hunting.

Habitat:

Spotted in a freshwater environment lake/swamp (yes, that's plant covered water) in the US tropical south, gulf coast FL.
