Field Notes

Description:

White cap hairy fungi with brown gills

Habitat:

Growing in full shade on live unknown tree about 2 meters up where the bark is split

Notes:

For about 3 weeks (since our 10hr power outage), the sprinklers have been coming on at 10pm, keeping the yard wet far longer than usual. Since then, we've had a lot of mushrooms pop up but they don't last long since it's hot during the day. This spotting looks a bit shriveled up.

confirm for you. it looks as if you're right with the id. and they seem to begin to dry out, but this fungi, rolls then the caps in, and when water/rain comes back, it will open again.
