Field Notes

Description:

Creamy white mushrooms with light brown scales on cap getting darker at center. Stipe tan. Annulus present.

Habitat:

Growing in wood mulch at the Penn State Arboretum.

in any doubts it is still a Chlorophyllum (previous macrolepiota) --> rhacodes {here written rachodes} var. bohemica , C rhacodes var hortensis or C. brunneum
Shaggy parasol is the common name for two closely related species of mushrooms, Chlorophyllum rhacodes and C. brunneum. i agree for the common Chlorophyllum rhacodes , but not for the C.rhacodes var bohemica ( other name for brunneum). and maybe its just discolorated like an orange/yellow amanita muscaria !!!
Looks very bright for a Shaggy Parasol, in my opinion.
