Field Notes

Description:

Camoflauged green, brown, black

Notes:

Found her on my morning glory vines 3 days ago. She hasn't moved from that spot so I wonder if she's using the leaf as a host for her eggs! 🤔

Firstly, I know nothing about this specific moth, however, some moths have only a very short life span, only a few days and have no mouth parts for eating so the females would simply mate, lay eggs and die. On the other hand there are also moths which migrate and can live for a long time because they can eat. Please add this spotting to the "Moths of the World Mission" so that it is more likely to be seen by one of our experts. http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8841449 You may also e-mail our expert at [email protected]
It's been 3 days now since I first saw this moth. She hasn't moved from that leaf in 3 days. Is it safe to assume that she's using the leaf as a host for her eggs? If so, how can I preserve it? Can I continue to treat my plant as normal without jeopardizing the survival of her eggs? Any thoughts are appreciated!
