Field Notes

Description:

Blue and orange under parts, short tail and a big head.

Habitat:

In temperate regions, this kingfisher inhabits clear, slow-flowing streams and rivers, and lakes with well-vegetated banks. It frequents scrubs and bushes with overhanging branches close to shallow open water in which it hunts.

Notes:

These are a few long distance shots I could get, after following this one in particular. He looked pretty cool and posed for a while so I could get him while turning his head. Seen them quite often near shallow water, especially nar crop fields and rivers ( back waters)
