Wonderful spotting! such an experience I want to have :-)
The Amazon Kingfisher, Chloroceryle amazona????? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chloroceryle_amazona_-_male.jpg
Karen your ID is perfect no doubt... Let any bird expert say about this.
It could be - but C. americana range also includes Columbia so I don't know if it is that or the sub-species!
Karen I have no doubt about your suggestion. I find following reference so rechecked Wiki information... where I find subspecie images at below mention link... http://surfbirds.com/albums/showphoto.php/photo/8567
Ashish, are you sure it is the sub-species?
Hi Karen correct your suggestion with Binomial ID- Chloroceryle americana septentrionalis what is mentioned on your reference link.
Sweet little guy - is there a story here?
Or American Pygmy Kingfisher..?
