Yes nasty bites - try Tea tree oil - it works for me
Fortunately, we do have a relatively large yard (about 3 acres). This was far enough from the house, but we do have other mounds around the yard. I have bites all over my feet and even one on my finger.
Hope you have a large yard and they are aways from the house - powerfull bunch of fierce creatures there
