Field Notes

Description:

spotted this lovely pansy in the Thornhill Nursery, Oakland, CA. The variety name is "Dynamite Wine Splash." I love the colors.

Habitat:

Thornhill Nursery, Oakland, CA.

Notes:

The whole flower is edible, sepals and all. Pansies have a mild, minty flavor. The flowers work well for candying and make great decorations on top of hor d'oeuvres and cakes.

Thank you Apple-I love pansies!
I just love pansies and this is one of my favorites! You can now get pansies that are cold tolerant.
