Description:

Look who spent the day under the veranda roof of the room where I stayed in Entebbe, Uganda.

The African grass owl (Tyto capensis) is a species of owl in the Tytonidae family.

Habitat:

Local house in a town on Lake Victoria, Uganda

How you have it listed is correct, it's a grass owl.
So any other input? Grass Owl or Barn Owl?
Any other ideas, Kibuyu?
How cute is that! Habitat seems odd for a grass owl though - I thought they were very outdoorsy birds of highland grasslands.

littlechippy. Definitely looks like a masked owl, but do them have them in Uganda? I can only find reference to them in Australia.

Perhaps a masked owl? There a couple different species of masked owls, so you may want to look those up.
