Description:

I have no idea what this is, perhaps an insect or a fungal infestation of a what I think is wild grape leaf. Any help with identification would be appreciated.

Habitat:

Border of woods in southeastern PA USA

Thank you for the suggestion KarenL. And thank you dandoucette for the link. I haven't read the whole article on Phylloxera yet, but from what I did read in scanning the wiki article, it does sound like that's what it is. I had never heard of an insect gall before!

Looks like some kind of gall - maybe grape tumid gallmaker?
