This is Cyrtonota marginalis. I have collected a series of them from the same locale as well as reared them in captivity. Species identified for me by leaf beetle specialist Rob Westerduijn.
What a neat beetle!! Chrysomelidae is the family level including all leaf beetles and Cassidinae is the subfamily group including some of the largest tortoise leaf beetles with showy elytra. Both names are correct.
That's awesome! That picture was taken at Yanayacu ... exactly where I had taken this one. :)

Lovely bug. It certainly looks like a tortoise beetle--might be a good starting point.
