Field Notes

Description:

about an inch long. white and tan patterns.

Habitat:

On a huge web that stretched from our garage awning (8 ft up) to a telephone wire (about 15 ft up) about 10 feet apart, and to the ground. The web was one of those really ornate circular ones (orb webs?) I wouldn't have even seen the spider except I ran into one of the anchor lines. It felt like I hit fishing line, it was so strong.
