Field Notes

Description:

About 1.5 inches across. Dull brown with rusty orange patches, black eyespots with wavy yellow rings around them, wavy dark brown lines along wing edges.

Habitat:

Grassland. This is a wildlife ranch that has not been grazed for 14 years, so there is a good diversity of grasses and brush.

Notes:

There has been several inches of rain over the last month. This was the only Red Satyr I saw over a 6-hour period.
