Ohh - not stupid, no way! You thought the right thing - in the eyes of the beetle. Mimics fool anyone. Their phyletic affinities may largely be obscured by the new look. I especially like them! Very interesting! - and not an Erotylidae. It is a mimic of Erotylus sp., but body features and form of head indicate it is probably a Darkling beetle.
