I would love to find one of the spiny orb weavers!!!!! I don't think they are around this area though.
We have quite a few orb-weavers but most are very camera shy! I am hoping to find a spiny guy as I think they are so cool! I will check out your yellow wasp orb weavers - they sound interesting!
:-D welcome!!! I love the orb weavers, they really are the Extermination specialists!! I have several Large Yellow Wasp Orb Weavers in the garden. They do a Great job of keeping down the Japanese Beetle infestation. :-D I have some pics of one up somewhere on here.

Neoscona crucifera might actually be the correct species. looking at the alternating leg markings, very similar to the spider shown here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neoscona_crucifera
