Field Notes

Description:

Long pointed bill, yellow patch between bill and eye, blackish brown stripe behind eye, black "V" on yellow breast, yellow underparts, chunky body, short wide tail, long toes.

Habitat:

Grassy plains, agricultural fields.

Notes:

A Western Meadowlark in the grass at the Ridgefield NWR in Feb. 2009.
