Field Notes

Notes:

We observed this guy while walking around Todd Lake near Mt. Bachlor. The margins of the lake were covered with tiny juvenile frogs. It was actually difficult to walk without stepping on them. In the water were millions of tadpoles. As we walked farther away from the lake, we observed a few adults. What surprised me about this little one, is that he seemed to crawl through the grass rather than hop as we come to expect from frogs. You can even see his left hind leg, extended behind him in the photograph. Despite his unusual choice of movement, he was rather quick so it was difficult to get a good photograph with the iPhone.
