Description:

A dull orange quite solid type of fungi

Habitat:

Has been growing on a dead tree trunk in my backyard for quite a number of months.

This is a good site with some great info, and it's local. http://www.elfram.com/fungi/fungipics_r.html ... and as Bill says regarding these different species of Pycnoporus... "they are distinguisable only microscopically." Beside, a suggestion is just that. You don't need to agree with it. Regarding site difficulties, I've experienced the same. The only way I have found to get around it is to disable protection on the address bar (padlock symbol). It works fine for me after that, and when I'm done, I just reengage it. Perhaps give that a try.

Am trying to update it but it just doesn't seem to want to work for me. I've been told how to get around this error, but for some reason I can't get it to work. I wish Project Noah could correct it from there end as it is so annoying not being able to post or update posts without constant problems

Ok thank you Neil. Interesting though that the suggestion was from another expert on another sight I'm on which is based here in Australia. Maybe not so much of an expert LOL

I just spotted some yesterday, and I love the colour, and the brackets can become quite large. Pycnoporus cinnabarinus grows in the northern hemisphere, whereas Pycnoporus coccineus grows mainly in temperate Australia and NZ. This would be our local species. Nice spotting btw.
