Field Notes

Description:

Black beetle 2.5 cm. The larva is 5 cm long and has a striking head.
It attacks Rosaceae and becomes a terrible plague that can be difficult to eradicate.

Habitat:

It extends to Southern Europe, Czechoslovakia and Austria.
Host plants: pear, apricot, almond and other stone-fruit species.
